Dolly Parton, the legendary and beloved country music icon and actress, died yesterday after a brief cancer battle. She was 80.
She starred in many movies, released over 250 singles, of which 43 went Top 10 and 25 went to number one. She won countless awards and will be remembered as one of the best songwriters ever.
But what Dolly will be remembered for most was her kindness, acceptance and giving heart. She donated over $500 million to education, disaster relief, health care and child literacy in her lifetime. She also gave away more than 325 million books to children in her lifetime with her Imagination Library program.
