Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has broken the record for the most weeks at number-one on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart with 23 weeks. That’s just one week more than Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You.”
But the record is not set in stone. When Christmas time rolls round, Mariah’s hit could notch a few more weeks at the top of the chart, bumping Ella. Billboard’s Hot 100 doesn’t measure consecutive weeks at number-one, it measures cumulative weeks.
Now, Ella could keep racking up weeks until holiday music starts to play in November giving her a greater edge, and she could even return to the top of the chart in the new year, so we must wait and see.
